Hypnotherapy, Gut health, and Anxiety

First the microbiome – what is it?

It’s helpful to pay attention to something that is working behind the scenes for us all the time.  Food leaves our small intestine, and journeys on to our large intestine where millions of bacteria live.  On average this amount of gut bacteria or microbiome weigh two to four kilos.  Another reason weighing ourselves is nuts!

Some of these gut bacteria are good cops and some are bad cops.  (The idea is to get more good microbiome in our system)

The purpose of these gut bacteria is to primarily ferment the food we eat – a big part of digestion.   Our factors in digestion are the muscles movement of the intestines and enzymes and a whole host of other things.

Some of these gut bacteria line the gut, and there are some gut lining bacteria that ferment in a nice effective way, and others that just cause bloating and gas.  (Whichever is worse, I’ll leave that up to you) The gas and bloating happens when some of the particles of food are not broken down enough, and this can be so uncomfortable that people can get depressed and anxious and need the focussing practices of hypnotherapy to bring down the symptoms or eradicate them altogether.

For many people a bloated stomach messes with the brain.  We look down and it equates with “being fat” and almost instantly communicates with the gut from the brain in a way that is not helpful.  But more on that further on …

Even after what we consider is a healthy meal some of my clients still go up in one or two clothing sizes adding even more stress.  This does cause stress to all genders and ages. For the metaphysical thinkers, there is something in our world that we cannot “digest”, or sometimes literature says that there may be problems in the stomach acid that needs addressing.
